Mateusz Molęda is a German-Polish conductor born and raised in Dresden.
Described as a ‘highly talented conductor’ with ‘a bright artistic future’ by Marek Janowski, and a conductor who has ‘natural authority […] in combination with his communicative openness and sensitivity for the orchestra’ by Michael Sanderling, he has worked with orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin, the Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn, the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, the Odense Symphony Orchestra, the Hungarian National Symphony Orchestra, and many more.

His forthcoming appearances in 24/25 include debuts with the Staatskapelle Dresden and the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz in Germany, the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra in Canada, and performances with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern and the Warsaw Philharmonic. He will also tour Germany in May 2024 with the London Mozart Players.

An artist who takes care to spend time with both the music and the composer in preparation for his work with orchestras, he is recognised for his profound interpretations of a wide variety of musical styles, and his authoritative presence on the podium. The Bavarian Broadcasting channel BR-Klassik reported: ‘When working he is focused and determined. He perfects the accentuation, tightens the pace, emphasises the importance of the greatest orchestral differentiation and sophistication […]’.

Mateusz began his musical journey at the Carl Maria von Weber Special High School for Music, studied piano performance at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media with Prof. Arie Vardi, and also continued his studies in Early Music and Historically Informed Performance Practice in cooperation with Prof. Zvi Meniker, one of the last pupils of Nikolaus Harnoncourt. As an accomplished concert pianist, Mateusz performed both in recitals and as a soloist with renowned orchestras in over 25 countries around the globe.

As a conductor, he was mentored by Maestro Janowski, and worked as his assistant with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, and the Dresden Philharmonic.

In October 2023, Mateusz won 1st Prize and the Orchestra's Special Prize at the distinguished and prestigious International Sergei Kussewitzky Conducting Competition.
